Big Shoals Creek - Mt Magazine WMA - Ozark National Forest - FREE Dispersed Camping Arkansas
Exploring Mount Magazine WMA in the Ozark National Forest I discovered a dispersed camping spot that had all the criteria I look for in a camping spot. Shaded spot, a fairly large camping area and surrounded by forest! I explored the area and found several swimming holes in the Big Shoals Creek less than a half mile from my camping spot. Stick around to the very end and watch me almost step on a snake while walking the creek. Thanks for watching!

Dispersed Camped Jack Creek - Lake Vista Lookout - Ouachita National Forest - Arkansas
Переглядів 7 тис.2 місяці тому
I found a perfect little dispersed camping spot right on Jack Creek in the Ouachita National Forest. Plenty of shade and the cold Jack Creek water really helps with cooling down after a day of exploring the forest. I rode my Ebike to the Lake Vista to see the sprawling view of the national forest, and rode over to the Free Buck Ridge Shooting Range. Great spot to spend lazy summer days at. Than...

The Lacros Thunder E-Bike has a full suspension, All-Terrain Fat Tires, Headlight, hydraulic Disc Brakes, and rear rack. This bike is built for the 5'3" to 6' 5" person to ride. I love finding dispersed camping/boondocking spots out in the National Forests of the Ozarks! I found a beautiful spot among the oak and pine trees off of an old dirt road. I ventured over to Buzzards Rock Lookout and found a stunning lookout spot that allowed you to see many miles of the Ozarks! After, I rode over to check out Big Shoal Falls. The falls did not disappoint. After all the explor...

The best thing about exploring the Ouachita National Forest is if you see something interesting to check out, you can most likely find a spot to park and camp next to it. The Richardson Bottoms Wildlife Viewing Area attracts all kind of wildlife to the area and I found a perfect dispersed camping spot less than two miles down the road from it. Lots of migratory birds, beavers, frogs and lots mo...
Washita Primitive Campground - Free Lake Ouachita Shore Camping - Arkansas Hidden Gem

I love finding primitive campgrounds hardly anyone knows about. Washita Campground is not on google maps, so you will have to be driving by it, to notice it. That was exactly what I did. I found this primitive campground driving around Lake Ouachita and knew I had to stay a couple of days to experience the shore camping it offered. If you are in the area, stop by this hidden gem and explore the...

Exploring around Hot Springs and Lake Ouachita in the western part of Arkansas, I found a primitive campground way up on Hickory Nut Mountain. Being able to see Lake Ouachita from that far up was pretty neat to see and the views from Lake Ouachita Vista is a must see. I also did a little hiking on the Lake Vista Trail that wound its way further into the Ouachita National Forest. Thanks for watc...

I try and find as many free camping spots to use while traveling out west that I can. Angel Peak Campground is definitely one of my favorites to camp at since it's out of the city and on BLM land. I loved my stay there, with all the beautiful scenery and hiking trail out towards Angel Peak. Loved the area and location and will definitively stop back in when I'm in the area! @@stevet.5366 most folks who aren’t familiar with the area falsely think Mount Magazine WMA is part of the Ouachita’s since they are so close to the Ouachita’s. @DispersedCamperMan no sir. I am from around there and Mt. Magazine is in the Ouachita mountains. It is on the south side of the river valley. Physiographically, Mount Magazine is part of the Frontal Ouachita Mountains, and is part of the Arkansas River Valley ecoregion. It lies within a southern extension of the Ozark National Forest close to the Ouachita National Forest.

Spring or fall. It's not to hot. But there are a lot of tourist spring and fall in Moab. If you like camping in the heat and set up with A/C in your RV or rig, I would go in the summer. The boondocking spots are emptied out. You normally get the area to yourself. But it gets scorching hot.

Very nice place Mark! the swimming hole would be real good too. Hey, I got the Starlink mini and so far it works great! only a couple pounds, it runs on 12v also, you have to get an additional cord for it tho but worth it, the modem is built in so only 1 cord you need, it is a double sided barrel connector cord, to get it to work on 12v you need a barrel connector extension then a barrel to USB C to plug it into a power source with usb C (usb C will handle the extra power needed to handle the boost in power at startup, reg usb wont handle that) but i cant wait to take it on the road, it will make a huge difference. I know you are happy with yours & you prolly get faster speeds but this Mini works for me. Thanks!

Arkansas does have lots of dispersed camping spots, especially in the Ouachita's and Ozarks. That was definitely a Nope Rope. LOL It was probably just taking an afternoon nap.

Yep. Me and my friends went out there when we were crazy teenagers for my mom’s memorial. We always called that place bear cave and called forked mtn “tittie” There’s a cave on the mtn you can squirm your way into and up through the mtn. It’s pretty sketchy though. …..been over 20 years

Pumphouse road, I've tent camped in there a lot of times. If you follow it to the end it is about 7 miles long and deadends, makes for a good ride on a dirtbike. I saw a similar shelter to the one you saw in that area as well. probably bushcraft folks.

I did go down the road a little further. More camping spots and rv'ers. When I get back in that area, I'll definitely go further down the road to find a camping spot. Love that area.

Glad it was helpful! You should definitely turn in the next time you are in that area. Good little spot to stay while exploring the area.

Very helpful seeing the road in. On average how many RVs up there? Your motorcycle really frees you up.

There were about two up there when I was there. Evening time, a couple more class B's showed up to overnight. Wasn't crowded when I was there.

@@DispersedCamperMan thanks. I'm looking forward to starting in January with my class C that I'll be getting. But I'm thinking about the downside of being in remote areas alone. And I guess there's a risk in being the only one there for it of course you could always have others who join you who are up to no good. Anyway I guess I'll learn as I go.
